Camo Solutions uses the process of Water Transfer Printing on items that are 3-D. It includes four basic stages to result in the final product:
Stage #1 - All Items are inspected upon delivery. Each item is disassembled, degreased and dried for 24 hours. Areas that are not being dipped will be masked off from the decorating process. Each item that is going to be decorated will be sanded and receive the appropriate primer followed by the base coat for the pattern selected.
Stage #2 - A section of film is cut to the appropriate length and width of the item that is to be decorated and is carefully laid flat on the water and a chemical activator is applied with a spray gun. The activator creates a 3 part process for the dipping: 1st: It helps dissolve the film along with the specific water temperature which must be maintained. 2nd: It acts as a suspension agent on the water. 3rd: It promotes an adhesion to the base coat.
Stage #3 - The item is then dipped into the ink that is suspended on the water surface and removed after being completely submerged in the water tank, where the pattern is etched into the base coat.
Stage #4 - The item is immediately rinsed and set to dry for 24 hours, then sprayed with an automotive clear finish. All materials that we use are automotive grade. The reason we use automotive grade products is for the solvent resistance. This process and PPG product will result in a long lasting durable finish.
